All levels will begin the week of April 1, 2019.
We believe it is extremely important for players to get time off at the end of the season. This is why we will not touch the ice until the first week of April.
There seems to be a great deal of confusion on what spring hockey should be about. Are we focused on competition in games, systems, ice touches, coaching, skill development or having fun?
It is our belief at Littleton Hockey that all focus should be on skill development, building creativity and enjoying the game in the spring. System development (on ice play such as breakouts, specialty plays, etc.,) are to be done during the season, although skill development and tactical development should still be the primary goal. One spring tournament against strong competition does not equal player development.
At the U8 level, our only focus is making your hockey player more fundamentally sound and nurturing his/her love of this great game.
At the Squirt and Peewee level, our focus will be on having fun and developing at the same time in a unique structure.
At the Bantam, our focus will be using your player's skill base to enforce proper body contact and continue developing the necessary skills to be successful at there U14 age group.
Here is a great article by IHC Hockey Inc.
If you want to become a better player, you shouldn’t play the game in the off-season. Instead, you should prepare to play the game! Remember, everyone goes to the games, and everyone goes to the practices. But, it is what you do on your own that will make you the better player!
