Lady Hawks

LHA Lady Hawks

As Littleton Hockey nears its 50th Anniversary in 2013, the program is excited to announce the start of the all-female Lady Hawks. This program will provide a home for female hockey players starting in the 2012-2013 Season with the addition of a U12 team and U16 team.

What are the benefits of playing for LHA?

1. Coaching: LHA has a long history of developing strong hockey players who have advanced to the AAA, Jr., collegiate and professional levels. LHA takes great pride in providing the best coaching for its members. From top to bottom, LHA supports the players and coaching staffs with various levels of skill development. Multiple opportunities for additional skill development, apart from scheduled practice, are also provided with morning skill sessions throughout the season and a very successful summer program. When becoming a member of LHA, your daughter will receive great coaching and an even better experience.

2. Ice: With four sheets of ice at use during the season, LHA is able to provide consistent practice times both during the week and on weekends. LHA teams rarely hit the ice twice in a day, rather practices are evenly spread throughout the week.

3. Competition: With all the various levels of travel and house teams at LHA, our Lady Hawks program will have multiple opportunities to practice and scrimmage with other similarly skilled LHA teams throughout the season. In addition to playing against LHA's boys teams, the program is applying to become a member of the Mountain States Girls Hockey League (MSGHL) and hopes to join for the 2012-2013 Season.

4. Tradition: LHA is the only program in Colorado with three USA Hockey National Championships and numerous CAHA State Championships. LHA is a program that prides itself in following a line of tradition that is second to none in Colorado.

The growth in the number of female hockey players in the United States has been staggering over the last eight years. There were just over 10,000 girls or women registered with USA Hockey during the 1992-1993 season. That number increased to over 65,500 during the 2010-2011 season according to the USA Hockey website.
